Sometimes the value of creating isn’t found in producing something permanent. Sometimes it is found simply in the act of making. And so, although my search for China’s famous park calligraphers wasn’t over yet, I realized something. Perhaps I had already found exactly what I was looking for. Not a perfect brush or a perfect artwork.

Thousands of life-sized soldiers stand silently beneath enormous hangars, each one with a different face, hairstyle, expression, and rank. It almost feels impossible to believe they remained hidden underground for more than two thousand years before being accidentally rediscovered in 1974 by a group of local farmers digging a well during a severe drought.

Some places need no introduction. The Great Wall of China is one of them. Long before arriving in Beijing, I had already discovered that choosing which section to visit would not be an easy decision.

When Did the Temple Become a Photo Studio? All around me, visitors were wearing elaborate Thai clothing. Pink silk. Gold embroidery. Traditional accessories. Parasols. And cameras. So many cameras!

We live in a time where images are fast, digital, and disposable. We scroll, we like, we move on. But standing there, holding those books, I was reminded that some images are meant to stay. To be experienced slowly. To take space.
